Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS)

Free children's dentistry


Since 1 January 2014, the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) has been providing improved access and financial support for basic dental services to eligible children. At Everything for Teeth we have welcomed the schedule and are so pleased that we will be able to provide much needed dental services to the wider community. Dental treatment is important at any age and we believe in the importance of establishing good oral hygiene practices from an early age.

The benefits for basic dental services is $1000 per eligible child over two consecutive calendar years. The benefit amount may then be renewed every two years.

With over 2.7 billion dollars of financial support being made available to 3.4 million children, why not check with our staff if your child is eligible?

  • To be eligible for CDBS, a child must be:
    aged between 2 and 17 for at least one day of the calendar year
  • eligible for medicare and
  • for at least one day of the calendar year receive an Australian government payment such is Family tax benefit Part A, Abstudy, youth allowance etc.

At Everything for Teeth, we believe accessing the CDBS (for those eligible) should be hassle free. All services provided under the schedule will be bulk billed until the $1000 limit is reached for the relevant period.

Benefits cover a range of services, including examinations, x-rays, cleaning, fissure sealing, fillings, root canals, extractions and partial dentures.

Benefits are not available on cosmetic or orthodontic treatments or any services provided in a hospital.
